Legacy Program Header


SUNY »Ê¹Ú²©²ÊÍøַ’s Legacy Program celebrates, honors, and acknowledges families who have made attending »Ê¹Ú²©²ÊÍøÖ· a family tradition. A legacy student has a parent, grandparent, sibling, aunt, uncle, or cousin who is a »Ê¹Ú²©²ÊÍøÖ· graduate. We treasure the ties that bind your family to ours, and enjoy this opportunity to revisit the past and the deep, shared roots that go back decades -- or in some cases, centuries.

At »Ê¹Ú²©²ÊÍøÖ· we celebrate legacy families who are related to a first-year student with a »Ê¹Ú²©²ÊÍøÖ· Legacy Pin, presented to the current student. We celebrate all legacy connections virtually during the fall semester.

2025 First-Year Legacy Student Celebration Station - Class of 2029:

  • This event will coincide with first-year residence hall check-in and family programming.

    • pick-up a »Ê¹Ú²©²ÊÍøÖ· Legacy pin for your current student
    • grab a $5.00 voucher for Aunt Cookies (one per family, registration required, valid 8/19/25 only)
    • pose for a Legacy Family snapshot if your student is in attendance (or submit your photo online)

Legacy defined

We consider ANY family relation a legacy connection. For example, if your great-uncle attended »Ê¹Ú²©²ÊÍøÖ· and so did you (regardless of when either of you graduated), you have a legacy connection that we want to celebrate.

Legacy connections include (and you may even find yourself in several of these categories):

  • Parent/Grandparent - Child/Grandchild
  • Aunt/Uncle - Niece/Nephew
  • Siblings and First Cousins
