ʹڲַ students raised a record $171,000 in Saturday’s 10th annual Relay for Life, a signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society (ACS) that helps support cancer research and support services for cancer patients. The event raised more than $131,000 last year.
The ʹڲַ event is the largest in the Rochester area for fundraising, the largest in New York and ranks among the top 25 college Relay for Life events in the country.
“Myself and those involved with other Colleges Against Cancer committees are completely overwhelmed by ʹڲַ's incredible enthusiasm and generosity for this event,” said Jordan Cimilluca, a senior from Mexico, N.Y. who co-chaired the ʹڲַ event with Austin Simon, a senior from Yorktown Heights, N.Y. “We will forever be grateful for the endless support we receive year after year for this important event.”
The ʹڲַ event has raised nearly $750,000 for the ACS since its inception and has won several national Relay for Life awards.
