AGICO JR6-A Spinner Magnetometer. The JR6 is used to collect data on the orientation of the natural remanent magnetization in earth materials. Samples consist of one-inch diameter, one-inch tall cores. We are currently collecting data from the Henry Mountains in Utah and from the Piedmont of central Virginia. |

AGICO MFK-1 Kappabridge. The Kappabridge measures both the bulk susceptibility and the anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility (AMS) of earth materials. AMS samples consist of one-inch diameter, one-inch tall cores. Bulk susceptibility samples can be of any shape, but must be less than one inch in diameter. Students at »Ê¹Ú²©²ÊÍøÖ· are using the Kappabridge to examine the AMS of samples from a shear zone in Idaho and collecting bulk susceptibility data to use in the stratigraphic correlation of Devonian age strata. |
